Just because you're having an intimate wedding doesn't mean you're completely on your own. While elopements may be last-minute decisions, my advice is not to just wing it but let me guide you through the planning. I can provide you with a list of locations, BnB's, florists and celebrants to help get you started and inspired, I would love to explore new locations with you!

Let me document your day in a real and honest way, just like elopements and your love story should be...

Below are my top ten favourites for a variety of elopements. These are just recommendations of course and I am only a phone call away to get you started on curating your own elopement aesthetic!

Hartz Mountains National Park:

At the edge of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage is one of Tasmania's most accessible alpine areas. Its high peaks simultaneously provide grandstand views into the mountainous Southwest wilderness and looks down into the Huon Valley.

The dolerite Hartz Mountains range rises to 1254m above sea level and is dotted with small glacial lakes and an array of alpine vegetation, providing an easy look into Tasmania’s high-mountain terrain. Eloping here offers so many opportunities, short tracks, mountain climbs and glacial lakes that are an easy trek in and out. It's also my backyard and I know every track like the back of my hand!

I will organise your pass to be married in the park, the only thing to note is that you would have to have fake/silk flowers or none as it is a national park, leave no trace.

Lake St Clair National Park:

The atmosphere at Lake St Clair is moody and ethereal, there’s an almost enchanted presence at this tranquil place. Known by its Aboriginal name Leeawuleena which means Sleeping Water. If you really want to spoil yourself, you can book a stay at Pumphouse Point which would provide you with 'next level' getting ready photos and a great back up option in case the weather is not behaving!

Huntington Tiers:

Huntingdon Tier Forest Retreat | Home

This is one for the books. It is an old school bus converted into a mountain-top, off grid apartment! Borne out of love of the natural Tasmanian environment, Huntingdon Tier is a place to simply be, to soak in the woodfired hot tub, breathe fresh air, to listen to the sounds of the breeze rustling the leaves or to lounge by a warm wood fire and quietly observe the surrounding wildlife.

50metres below the bus is a natural cave which would be perfect for a unique ceremony before you head back to the bus and hot tub on top of a mountain!

Royal Hobart Botanical Gardens:

If you are after a pretty low key garden wedding then the Botanicals in Hobart city is the place for you.

Surrounded by lush greens, flowers year round, cool old brick walls and views of Hobart and beyond you cannot go wrong no matter what time of year. I suggest early in the morning or a late afternoon ceremony. Afterwards you can walk around Hobart, options for accommodation are endless and dining is a breeze. The cost for a ceremony is $550 for the hire of the Conservatory or the Lily Pond (2 hour duration).  Many other lovely locations are available for hire for $220, including the Anniversary Arch, Japanese Garden and Fuchsia House. The Gardens are a very popular venue for weddings, so we strongly suggest bookings are made at least three months in advance.

Mount Wellington/Kunanyi:

The park stretches westward from the 1270m summit of kunanyi / Mount Wellington. Spectacular lookouts, dramatic cliff faces, boulder fields, waterfalls, fern glades and amazing dolerite rock formations await those who are wanting to get married on this diverse and unique

landscape. I have a few locations that are quite easy to get to for the less adventurous, a 15 minute walk to your ceremony location at an easy pace then photos around the area afterwards. There is no cost involved or booking fees, you can take in real flowers as long as you leave no trace.

The Stand Alone:

The Stand Alone - Cabins for Rent in Eaglehawk Neck, Tasmania, Australia - Airbnb

A cabin where the forest meets the sea, this little space is a sanctuary, surrounded by birdsong, salty air and a little path that leads directly down to the quiet end of the iconic Tessellated Pavements. The beach is perfect for a ceremony, the evening light is gorgeous as are the epic sunrises. Clyde Island is located to the left of the beach which makes for a fun trip and amazing photos! This is definitely one of my favourite places to shoot, no matter the weather!

The Keep:

The one word I think of when I look at The Keep is luxury. Perched upon a 650 metre rocky pinnacle overlooking Tasmania’s North-East The Keep has been designed for reconnection, relaxation and rejuvenation. Your ceremony here would be intimate and right on the doorstep of the accommodation with views overlooking the valley and beyond. It would be epic, wild and unforgettable.

The Shepherds Cottage & Blacksmiths Cottage:

The Shepherd's Cottage | Boutique Accommodation | Swansea Tasmania (lisdillon.com.au)

These cottages are located on a historic farm and salt works property which dates back to 1830.

The Shepherd’s Cottage is a two storey, rubble stone building built in the early to mid-1800s and The Blacksmith’s Cottage is an historic rubble stone building dating back to the mid-1800s set amongst beautiful farmland.

These gorgeous buildings provide the perfect setting for relaxation with stunning floor to ceiling windows overlooking the river and nearby beach. Spectacular views across the farm, Freycinet Peninsula and river. A private beach is but a 5 minute walk for a ceremony or a pretty river view as you say your vows in the countryside.

Bruny Island:

I have quite the list of sweet BnB's on this little island that would make for perfect elopement memories. Add in a really cool lighthouse with a beach right next to it, epic cliffs and dirt roads and you have yourself the making of a dreamy elopement shoot! If lighthouses aren't your thing, there are plenty of BnB's that boast private beaches and numerous hikes with iconic Tasmanian mountains to dense moody forests!

The Captains Rest:

Captains Rest

This one if for all the romantics, think peaceful and serene surroundings, a haven located in a world heritage area, Lettes Bay Village just outside of Strahan will capture the heart and imagination of the dreamers of lovers of all things authentic.

Captains Rest is a Historically Listed, absolute waterfront cottage in Lettes Bay Village, just outside of Strahan, Tasmania. Complete with its own jetty out the front, you're sure fall deeply in love with this place.

Cradle Mountain:

Lovers of all things wild, towering mountain ranges and breathtaking scenery. From classic Cradle views to the peace of Dove Lake you cannot go wrong wherever you choose to elope in this beautiful part of Tasmania!
